This weekend Troop 19 went to Camp Carpenter on the Scout City campout. Except for the rain, everything was going as planned on Friday night,
until we could not find the trailer door key. After looking and looking, for the key we became stumped. Finally Mr. Anastasiatas came to the rescue.
He made a quick trip home and returned with his bolt cutter which unlocked the trailer door. With haste, we stuffed the trailer and were on our way.

When we got to the campsite, we found nice lean-tos at our disposal (thank you Mr. Anthony!). We set up our site and went to bed.

The next morning (Saturday), the patrols cooked nice breakfasts. After cleanup, we had the opening ceremony and Dan's patrol woke everyone up with
the song "Father Abraham". Chris' patrol was awarded the golden frying pan for the best breakfast. Dan's patrol was awarded the silver mallet for their extreme awesomeness.
|
The morning activity had each patrol attempting to build some form of tower. Only two succeeded. Jeremy's patrol made a tower by placing a
floor on top of three tripods and a ladder to get to the top, but might I add that the structure itself was supported by the ladder. Dan's patrol built a tree tower.
The tower was built in three trees that were in a triangular shape. Dan's had about eight spars for its floor and a tarp roof and also had a draw bridge.

Leadership patrol built a trebuchet that in-the-end worked. Later in the day, the patrols made lunch and "broke down" their pioneering projects.
The patrols next made dinner and desert. Chris' patrol was awarded the golden spatula, and Jeremy's the silver mallet (for some unknown reason).
After the evening campfire, patrols dispersed and eventually went to bed.
|
The next morning, we packed up early, had poptarts, and went home. All had a fun weekend, despite the liquid sunshine.
